ABOUT ME
Hello, I go by Mandy Finn! I am an Elementary Education Honors Major with Departmental Honors, an endorsement in social studies, and a history minor.
​
To pursue a career in teaching is to balance student experiences, knowledge, cultures, and likes in the most appropriate manner in order to advance learning. If this is done successfully, then one can see the development in a student's knowledge as they begin using what they learned without the instructional help of the teacher. It is those fantastic instances of understanding when a student has an 'Aha!' moment that continues to push me in my desire to pursue a career in teaching. As time goes by I hope to be there to witness and to be the cause of many of those moments for my future students.

Over the years I have worked with several programs, listed below, that have given me the chance to work with students in groups and one on one. Each experience assisted in my growth as an educator. While my aim is to work with upper elementary I have worked with Pre-K through eighth grade. Alongside helping students with academic pursuits I have been in a supervisory role for classroom field trips to open students' minds to college pursuits.

At the same time, I have participated in several internship opportunities that opened my horizons even further. These would include my observation period at the Grace and James Lee Boggs school in a fourth/fifth-grade classroom as well as DEPSA elementary school in third and fifth-grade classrooms.
VOLUNTEERING/INTERNSHIPS
I volunteered with Branches Crew a non-profit tutoring service for the Macomb area.
I was certified as an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) tutor at Stout Middle school in Dearborn.
I volunteered with DAYUM a non-profit online tutoring service assisting students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I received this Diploma after passing my IB exams in my fourth year of attending the International Academy of Macomb (2013-2017).
